Strawberry Fields Forever

Sunday, April 13th, I went to an Alpaca Open House at nearby Windy Farm.  The farm owner, Jackie, has 36 alpacas which she breeds, sells, and also sheers their fleece coat to spin and make beautiful scarves, rugs, socks, hats, amongst many other beautiful handmade creations.  She teaches classes so I will hopefully be learning these skills as I want alpacas on my future farm!

I am an alpaca natural - I have them eating right out of my hand.

Happy Birthday Farmer Jeff!  4-14-14

Farmer knees.  Bruises galore.

Taylor driving the Kubota and digging a trench for the strawberries.

Strawberry plant.

Plant strawberries 12 inches apart.  Remove the flowers the first year so that the plant spends its energy on growing strong roots and producing bigger and more fruit the following years.

Farmer Jeff's sons Petey (4) and Henry (6) came out to help us plant potatoes.  They are so cute!  And how lucky are they that they get to spend so much time on the farm?!  My inner child is super jealous.
